Chocolate Baklava

Ingredients

  • 1 cup hazelnuts
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil
  • 1 pinch salt

Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  2. In a food processor, pulse the hazelnuts until they are roughly chopped.
  3. Add the cocoa powder, coconut oil, and a pinch of salt to the hazelnuts in the food processor and pulse again until everything is well combined.
  4. Lay out a sheet of filo pastry on a clean work surface and brush it with melted coconut oil. Repeat this step with another sheet of filo pastry, and then place a third sheet on top without brushing it.
  5. Sprinkle some of the hazelnut-cocoa mixture over the top sheet of filo pastry.
  6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 until you have used all the filo pastry sheets and the hazelnut-cocoa mixture.
  7. Using a sharp knife, cut the layered filo pastry and hazelnut-cocoa mixture into small diamond shapes.
  8. Bake the baklava in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown and crisp.
  9. Remove the baklava from the oven and let it cool on the baking tray for 10-15 minutes.
  10. Drizzle some melted chocolate over the baklava and let it cool completely before serving.
  11. Serve and enjoy your delicious homemade Chocolate Baklava!
